Outdoor Therapy in Brighton and Sussex
Therapy. Without Walls.

What is outdoor therapy?
Sometimes called walk and talk, wild therapy or nature therapy, outdoor therapy takes counselling out of the therapy room and into nature.
My outdoor therapy sessions take place in a choice of outdoor environments.
Outdoor therapy is suitable for everyone., and it can help with just about anything indoor therapy can.

It can be helpful for people who find the conventional therapy setting awkward and uncomfortable, as well as those who generally find it easier to talk when moving.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) and follow their Code of Ethics, whilst working outdoors.

Why take therapy outdoors and into nature?
In our modern day lives, we are suffering from nature deficit, and nature has been *proven to bring many benefits to our mental wellbeing and overall health. In re-learning that nature is not separate from us but a part of us, it offers us a mirror to our lives, which can guide and teach us.

Even a 20 minute walk in nature can reduce stress hormones (cortisol), lower blood pressure, improving mood (releasing endorphins), enhancing focus, and supporting heart health.

Who can benefit from outdoor therapy?
I support adults and young people who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship struggles and spiritual issues. Outdoor therapy sessions are ideal for:
-
People experiencing burn out
-
Individuals seeking connection with nature
-
Those wanting an experiential approach or help but haven't found traditional indoor sessions to be helpful.
-
Anxiety and fear which inhibits action and pursuing their dreams
-
Individuals struggling with identity, worth or lack of meaning
-
Young people and students
Where my outdoor therapy sessions take place
My outdoor therapy sessions take place in Brighton and wider Sussex.
Stanmer Park
If you live in or near Brighton and use mostly public transport, I can meet you in Stanmer Park due to its great transport links via bus and train. It also has parking if you prefer the park over the woods to meet and more locally.
If you have access to a car, a different and more wild location for outdoor therapy sessions is Woods Mill Nature Reserve. Here it is much less crowded than a park, and a nature reserve with beautiful spaces for reflection and connection to the natural world. It is less than 20 minutes drive from Brighton.

Shoreham Beach
Walk and talk along the beach with plenty of space, the horizon and sea air to enrich and enliven our session.
